A crown is used to entirely cover or cap a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown (cap) can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. 

A crown is usually recommended to
    Cover a tooth that has had a root canal treatment
    Restore a fractured tooth
    Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
    Cover a dental implant
    Cover a discoloured or chipped or malaligned tooth
    Replace a large filling when there is'nt enough tooth structure remaining

A bridge maybe recommended if you have one or more missing teeth.

Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite.The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint disorders.

Unlike dentures, bridges do not need to be removed daily and cleaned. Bridges can be supported in any of three ways:
   By natural teeth adjacent to the gap
   By implants

MATERIALS AVAILABLE

   There is a choice of material available for crowns and bridges.
   All Metal
   Metal in overlaid ceramic (porcelain fused to metal)
   Metal free (all ceramic) crowns. 

PFM :

The PFM (porcelain fused to metal) crowns have a metal base coated with ceramic. PFM's come closer to the look of real teeth and also provided good strength, durability and fit but it is difficult to achieve the translucency of your natural teeth with a restoration that has a metal framework.

   TILITE : It is a 100% medically pure ceramic alloy with titanium from USA with high bond and compressive strength.
   DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) : It is made using CAD(Computer aided design) therefore provides high precision. Offers excellent bonding strength.

ALL CERAMIC CROWNS:

In metal free all ceramic crowns, the metallic look disappears. They are highly aesthetic and also offer high strength restorations. Types of metal free available at our clinic. They are an excellent choice for replacement of teeth and comes with a warranty of 10 -15years depending on which one do you choose.

A lava crown is one of the strongest ceramic crowns available in the world Lava crowns provide excellent aesthetics and translucency. Also each lava restoration comes with a 15 year warranty on the complete crown or bridge.

IPS EMPRESS /E MAX :

IPS Empress offers patients satisfaction with highly aesthetic, natural looking restorations. The empress system yields excellent crowns, but is specially effective when used for laminates and veneers.
