PROFESSIONAL CLEANING / SCALING
Professional clean up / oral prophylaxis / scaling and polishing is essential at least once in 6 months /
1 year for every individual to maintain overall healthy oral hygiene. It involves removal of plaque, tartar and stains from the teeth which accumulate over time. This is done using an ultrasonic scaling unit.
FILLINGS
For cavity fillings we use high quality tooth coloured filling materials only. We have a silver free policy, therefore silver fillings are neither performed nor suggested.
ROOT CANAL
Root canal treatment is a routine dental procedure needed when the blood or nerve supply of a tooth (pulp) becomes infected due to tooth decay or any injury.
Decay of the teeth if left untreated, gradually progress and involve the pulp of the tooth giving rise to dental pain. If left untreated the infection may spread through the root canal system leading to an abscess and maybe an extraction.
Root canal treatment not only removes the infection from the tooth but also saves the tooth structure. Root canal treatment is basically nothing but just removal of infected soft tissue within the tooth and its replacement by an artificial inert filling material.
A crown (cap) is advised on the root canal treated tooth to protect it and restore it to its full function.
However, the multiple sittings and painful root canal treatments are now a thing of the past. Because of high end equipments like ROTARY ENDOMOTOR AND RADIOVISIOGRAPHY available at TOOTH VILLE , the root canal treatment is simplified to one to two sittings only.
So now there’s no reason for you to dread root canal treatments!!
Extractions
Wisdom molars are nothing but third molars erupting after the second, in each quadrant of your jawbone. With most people, this eruption process takes place during their late teens or early twenties ( ages 18 to 24 years, although eruption outside this range is not uncommon) and hence the WISDOM TAG!!!
Wisdom teeth that are healthy, properly positioned and functioning well do not cause any problems and don’t require extractions.
FAQ:
What causes problems with the wisdom teeth then?
Wisdom teeth may break partway through your gums, causing a flap of gum tissue to grow over them. The food then gets lodged beneath it and cause infection.
They may be partially erupted or facing in the wrong direction. This is what we call IMPACTED WISDOM MOLAR
An IMPACTED tooth refers to a tooth that has failed to emerge fully into its respected position. This failure to erupt properly might occur because
There is not enough room in the person’s jaw to accommodate the tooth or
The tooth’s eruption path is obstructed by other teeth or
The angulation of the tooth is improper
So when do you consider extracting your third molars???
As mentioned earlier, the impacted or partially erupted tooth may cause swelling, pain or infection of the surrounding gum and bone area.
They can also put pressure on the adjacent teeth, which can result in decay and infection of the otherwise sound tooth.
Lastly, a fully erupted wisdom tooth needs to be removed because they are very hard to clean and can become severely decayed.
X-Rays will then determine if your wisdom molar needs to be surgically removed!
At Toothville, all wisdom teeth extractions are done by our specialist oral surgeon with great comfort and care.
DENTURES
Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth. When a tooth or teeth are so badly damaged that it is not possible to salvage them they have to be extracted. If not replaced in time the adjacent teeth drift into the space leading to chewing problems. So it is essential to replace missing teeth.
Different types of Dentures.
Complete Dentures : These are made when natural teeth are missing or removed. They can be conventional or immediate.Conventional dentures can be made about 8 – 12 weeks after the teeth have been extracted.
Immediate Dentures : They are made in advance and can be placed as soon as the teeth are removed. Measurements are taken prior to the extractions to fabricate the dentures. As the bones and gums shrink during healing period after tooth extraction, they become loose and have to be replaced.
Implant supported Dentures : Lower dentures are usually ill fitting because of the movements of the tongue and lips. Also in cases when the bone condition is there is not enough, implant supported dentures are made. Implants are placed in the jaw bone and semi fixed dentures are made on them.
Partial dentures : When one or more teeth are missing partial dentures are made they are removable and have to be removed at night and for cleaning.
